We bicycle around Lake Pontchartrain over two days each fall. On the first day, we start cycling at 7:00 AM (be there at 6:30 AM) from the Laketown Park parking lot in Kenner. We stop for lunch at Middendorf’s in Manchac around 11:00 AM. The first day ends at Fontainebleau State Park, where a hot meal will be provided. Estimated mileage for day 1 is 87 miles.
On day 2, a small breakfast is provided then we start cycling at 10:00 AM. We will stop for lunch at Dong Phuong restaurant/bakery. Estimated mileage for day 2 is 68 miles and we finish up about 5:00 PM back at Laketown where pizza will be provided.
We ride together and do not drop riders who fall behind or who have medical or mechanical issues. This is a social ride, not a race, and we support each other.
We provide a detailed schedule of all of our waypoints and stops. The schedule gives you an idea of how the weekend will unfold, but we won’t be watching the clock at every stop. We’ll start on time, keep lunch and daylight in mind, and adjust along the way to take care of the group. While your ride coordinator can be a little wound up about times and details, the riders should enjoy the ride.
