The Campground

Group Camp 3 aka "the campground" is located inside of Fontainebleau State Park. If someone is driving there, the entrance to the campground is located just over half of a mile east of the main entrance of the park on Hwy 190. If you are coming from the park entrance, you’ll turn right where the power lines cross the highway. The road from the highway to the campground itself is just over half a mile long. If you’ve been to the lodge (log cabin) in previous years, it’s the same intersection on Hwy 190; just turn right (south) instead of left (north).

The campground is about 4 acres and includes access to a pond with a fishing pier. There are 4 main structures on the campground: the kitchen, the two bunkhouses, and a separate bathhouse.

What to expect at the campground:

• Family friendly atmosphere.

• Large Dining Hall with a kitchen, refrigerator, propane stove, ice machine and freezer.

• There are no pots, pans, or cooking utensils provided in the Dining Hall

• Two bunkhouses (each with 2 bedrooms connected by a common room)

• Each bedroom has 8 metal frame bunk beds (top and bottom) with plastic mattresses.

• Access to showers and bathrooms. The bathrooms have toilet paper.

• Hot dinner meal on Saturday night.

• Small hot breakfast on Sunday.

• Bottled water and electrolyte powder.

• Fire pit for campfire (should be usable this year)

• Plenty of firewood.

• Two multi-port USB chargers (USB-C and Apple Lightning connectors) in the Dining Hall.

What NOT to expect to find at the campground:

• There is no bedding. No sheets, pillows, covers.

• There are no towels in the showers. No soap. No shampoo.

• Don't expect good cell phone service.

• Don't expect enough electrical outlets for everyone.

What to send to the campground:

• Personal items: Toothbrush / Mouthwash / Soap / Shampoo / Towels / Medications / Sleeping mask and/or earplugs. Sandals for the shower are also a good idea.

• Bedding: The campground has bunk beds with mattresses but no bedding. Pack blankets, sleeping bags, pillows.

• Changes of clothing. Consider what you want to wear on day 2, but also what you want to wear while at the campground and what to sleep in. Everyone has their own preferences, but do please plan on a shower and fresh clothing if you’re sharing enclosed spaces with others.

• Bug spray.

• Folding chairs. Sitting around the campfire is a Circumnavilake tradition.

• Drinks of any kind should be placed in the ice chest in the back of the trailer vehicle on Saturday before 7:00 AM. They will be put into the refrigerator at the campground. Drinks not consumed will be brought back to Laketown on Sunday.

• Food, snacks, spices, hot sauce, other consumables.

• Board games, Bluetooth speaker for music, playing cards, hacky-sack, Frisbee.

• Flashlights. It gets exceptionally dark in the park. 

• Anything to cook/prepare over the campfire. In the past people have done s’mores and Jiffy Pop popcorn.

• Anything else you want available to you at the end of the ride on Sunday.

• Charging cable for your electronic devices.

• Air Tag / Tile or other tracking device inside your luggage.
